So Wildscreen just happened… And what a night! Not only was I lucky enough to scoop a Best Editing gong for Chimp Empire, but Billy & Molly bagged 3 awards, including the Golden Panda. There was a lot of love and support in the room for our film, let’s hope this is the start of something.

Meanwhile… Turn up the Bass has been going great guns at festivals around the world. It’s been in the official selection at film festivals as far flung as Texas, Hungary and Wigan. Jackson Wild 2024 awards have just been dished out and I’m thrilled to share some VERY exciting news. Not only did Billy & Molly scoop the People & Nature film award and Turtle Walker nab the Conservation film award, but Turtle Walker won the Grand Teton award - one of the most prestigious awards in Wildlife Filmmaking. This award is given to the best film of the year.

”A beautifully realized portrait of one man’s decades-long efforts to save his nation’s threatened and endangered sea turtles and an inspiring look at how his legacy lives on in the legions of devoted conservationists continuing his work today.” - The Final Jury

Living with Leopards is being released on Netflix today. It’s a film of 2 editors and much of the craft of the final film is courtesy of Bobby Sheikh, who more than helped bring this one over the line. I fell in love with the leopards of this story and I’m sure you will too!

Life on our Planet scooped a couple of big awards tag the RTS West awards, including the award for Best Editing. The otter man cometh!

Billy and Molly is a matter of weeks/months away (depending on which side of the pond you reside). It’s a beautiful film that I am incredibly proud of. Chimp Empire beat some stiff competition to scoop the award in the Science and Natural World Category at the RTS awards. It was a spectacular night, rubbing shoulders with the great and the good. In a couple of months time: the BAFTAs! The judges said our series was “a best-in-class production which delivered a totally immersive experience for viewers”.

Life on our Planet is launching globally on Netflix today. It has been a project 5 years (at least!) in the making. It’s packed full of spectacle, jaw dropping facts and the profound realisation that Planet Earth survives whatever the universe throws at it - even if its residents don’t always make the cut. I’m very pleased to say that Lucy, the Human Chimp is premiering on Channel 4 this very evening. It was made under the constraints of lockdown and many innovations were sprung out of this situation.

A longer version will be premiering on HBO Max in the US at the end of the month.
